British comedian Ian Cognito died on stage in a performance.
South Central Ambulance Service said on Friday that medical staff were called to a club in Bicester, South England, on Thursday night, \"Unfortunately a patient died at the scene.
Police say the death is not suspicious.
Program organizer Andrew Bird told the BBC that when Cognito sat down silent, \"everyone in the crowd, including me, thought he was joking.
Cognito\'s real name is Paul Barbieri, who has never gained a broad reputation but is highly respected among other comedians.
Artist Jimmy Carr wrote on Twitter that Cognito died on stage: \"This is a commitment to comedy.
\"Little England\" star Matt Lucas wrote on Twitter: \"When I first started, he was always very kind to me and did well, provocative and completely original on stage. What a loss.
