name this bar - oxforst street, sydney
Simon Meis, owner of this bar on Oxforst Street, Sydney, told us how he came up with the concept.
He talked about DJ rentals, Dj equipment, lighting and his nights at the venue.
Simon Mercier is an entrepreneur with many stories.
His recent trip allowed him to open a bar called this bar on Oxford Street.
As an opportunist, he is a living proof that you can achieve it if you have a dream.
I found Simon and wanted to know the story behind the bar, the name and furniture of the bar, and how he got to the present.
The bar is located near the Taylor Square with a charming open window from which you can see the delightful shabby decor inside and a DJ playing the late night beat in the dim light.
DJ equipment is lit by candles and lights from the street.
Apparently the bar opened before it was ready and bad Simon had no name or concept and he decided to ask the public for their ideas.
\"I am always open to new ideas and concepts,\" he said . \"
\"Usually, when you open a bar, everyone wants to have a say, whether you want them to do it or not, everyone has their own ideas on how you should manage the venue.
Should you use DJ hire or should you buy it yourself.
This time I decided to listen to them and work with them.
So this is the collaboration of my own ideas, friends and people who come in and come up with ideas.
Simon said: \"This bar is not the same as other bars in Sydney.
\"People don\'t look outside the square when they open the bar.
They would be nice to hire all of our nights with this DJ here or take a few celebrities to the corner.
I think it\'s boring.
\"The furniture in the bar is not properly matched, reflecting this.
\"When I first bought this place, I recently broke up with my girlfriend and couldn\'t find a place to put all my furniture so I put all my furniture here.
That table was actually my table and I decided to leave it here.
The rest is people with their old furniture, or I buy old furniture in garage sales or antique shops.
\"The DJ equipment was installed on a shabby table, and according to Simon, the old-fashioned deep refrigerator is now a table surrounded by high stools, once belonged to a priest who hid his gun inside.
\"Because it had a lock on it, the priest was legally allowed to store his rifle and gun in it,\" Simon explained . \".
In the evening, the main lighting equipment of the venue is the candle rising from the floor on the high steel candle holder.
Similarly, the events held at the bar also reflect the decoration style of the bar.
Simon likes to host art battles, independent movie nights, and big club nights to make sure his customers never get bored.
\"We are always thinking about new ideas.
We are going to open a pizza shop here and have a completely different kind of food.
I also bought two new tables and put them here yesterday.
I would like to put all the furniture here for sale so that I can continue to bring new furniture as well.
\"This bar is perfect for drinking, dancing, and even movie nights after work.
You name it and Simon grabs the idea.
Keep an eye on the upcoming exciting events.
