The National Park Service says the Statue of Liberty will receive a new LED lighting system in the coming week.
It will replace the temporary lighting system installed after the old system was damaged by Hurricane Sandy.
The new system is expected to reduce energy consumption.
The Washington Monument and the White House already have a similar system.
The switch will open from sunset on July 7.
